Equine Pergolide Action!

On March 29, 2007 the FDA announced the withdrawal of pergolide from the market, placing the health and well being of all horses diagnosed with Equine Cushing's Disease (pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction or PPID) in jeopardy. Thanks to those who contributed their time and efforts, the continued availability of pergolide is ensured in the U.S. - for now. (See the May 11 FDA/CVM announcement.)

Equine Pergolide Action Now!

This site was started to keep you current on the latest information in the fight to keep pergolide available for our horses. There is at present no viable alternative to pergolide to control Cushing's Disease (PPID) or to stave off the debilitating, often painful and life-threatening side effects of this disease. The Save Pergolide petition was signed by almost 5,000 supporters - including many veterinarians. The fight was won - for now. The FDA's "regulatory discretion" statement, while ensuring current availability of pergolide, is not a permanent solution. We will continue to keep adding updates to this site.
